Ariel currently attends a full-day program. He's been attending this program for seven years now.  His school day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.  He receives two half hour sessions of occupational therapy a week and three half hour sessions of speech therapy a week.

Below is an example of what we used for his morning routine, but we've stopped using PECS since now he is more verbal..

During his Occupational and Speech therapy sessions he is pulled out of the class to receive 1 on 1 therapy. Throughout out the day Ariel gets brushed along with joint compressions.  This is based on the Wilbarger Protocol..

DT time is when he receives his discrete trial sessions.  Ariel is also working on the EDMARK Reading Program.  The Edmark Reading Program teaches beginning reading and language development to nonreaders. Using a whole word approach, the software versions teach recognition and comprehension of words for students with developmental or learning disabilities. Students find success following a process that teaches sight recognition of a word, introduces its meaning, provides comprehension practice and uses the word in story context. Carefully planned introduction of words and evolution of sentence structure also promote language development.  So far Ariel has done extremely well with this program.

Ariel is also learning his math by using the TouchMath multisensory approach. To learn more about Touch Math please visit

If you'd like some PECS to try with your child you can download some for free at the
following links.  Just cut them out and laminate them so that they will last.  You can
also make your own by taking pictures of items and laminating them as well.
