Ariel is currently attending a new school.  After attending his old school for 7 years we felt that he needed a change. We stopped seeing improvements and knew it was time for a new school.  His current school ratio is much smaller.  At first, the transition was a little difficult but I'm happy to announce that he did great his first year.  The hours are the same, and he currently receives one hour OT and one hour speech and 1/2 hour group speech a week.  I will keep some of the information below, Ariel no longer uses a picture schedule since he is now verbal.

Below is an example of what we used for his morning routine when he was much younger.

Below is Ariel's old school schedule, I will be posting

At the new school Ariel continues to working on his EDMARK Reading Program.  The Edmark Reading Program teaches beginning reading and language development to nonreaders. Using a whole word approach, the software versions teach recognition and comprehension of words for students with developmental or learning disabilities. Students find success following a process that teaches sight recognition of a word, introduces its meaning, provides comprehension practice and uses the word in story context. Carefully planned introduction of words and evolution of sentence structure also promote language development.

Ariel no longer uses the TouchMath multisensory approach. Unfortunately, the new school does not use this approach.  He currently is using a number line and learning how to use a calculator.

If you'd like some PECS to try with your child you can download some for free at the
following links.  Just cut them out and laminate them so that they will last.  You can
also make your own by taking pictures of items and laminating them as well.
